Stefan Pfeifer-Galilea

Stefan Pfeifer-Galilea (* 1961 as Stefan Pfeifer ) is a German jazz musician ( alto saxophone , clarinet , flutes , composition , arrangement ).

Live and act

Pfeifer-Galilea studied jazz saxophone, composition and arrangement at the Cologne University of Music. From 1982 he worked as first alto in various big bands, including the Cologne Big Band , the King of Swing Orchestra , the Frankfurt Big Band and the formation of Thilo Berg . From 1990 he played as a guest with the radio big bands of WDR , HR , NDR , SDR and Rias . He has also been part of Paul Kuhn's big band since 1996 and later to that of Deutschland sucht den Superstar . In 1997, Bob Brookmeyer brought him to his New Art Orchestra . Since 2006 he has led a quintet together with Andy Haderer .

Pfeifer-Galilea can be heard on albums by Bobby Shew , Paul Heller , Rolf Kühn , Klaus Weiss and Dave Douglas , but also by Nana Mouskouri . As a composer and arranger he worked a. a. for HR, NDR, WDR, the Big Band of the Bundeswehr , Pepe Lienhard , the German Television Award and Let's Dance .

From 1991 to 1995 he was a lecturer at the Arnhem University of the Arts . With Gabriel Pérez , Stephan Schulze and Thomas Haberkamp he leads the JugendJazzOrchester NRW , which has also recorded some of his works.
