Jürgen Schabhüttl (born November 22, 1971 in Güssing ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and police officer. Schabhüttl was a member of the Austrian National Council from July 2015 to November 2017 . From November 2017 to February 2020 he was a delegated member of the Austrian Federal Council from Burgenland .

Jürgen Schabhüttl was born on November 22nd, 1971 in the southern Burgenland town of Güssing . He attended the elementary school in Inzenhof , the secondary school in Güssing, the commercial academy in Stegersbach and finally the commercial school there. He did his military service in 1990. He then completed his training as a gendarmerie officer and has been working as a police officer at the regional police headquarters (formerly the regional gendarmerie command) for Burgenland since June 1, 1995 .

Political career

Schabhüttl has been mayor of his home municipality Inzenhof since March 30, 2007 . After Norbert Darabos left the National Council in 2015 to become Provincial Councilor in Burgenland, Jürgen Schabhüttl took up his post in the regional constituency of Burgenland South on July 15, 2015 and was sworn in as a member of the National Council for the Social Democratic Party of Austria . After Schabhüttl was unable to secure a seat in the National Council in the 2017 National Council election , he replaced Peter Heger , who moved to the Burgenland Landtag, as a member of the Federal Council sent from Burgenland. After the 2020 state elections , he resigned from the Federal Council, and Sandra Gerdenitsch replaced him .

Private life

Jürgen Schabhüttl is married and has three children.
