Maitre, who started for the local ski club of La Rosière , made his international debut on January 19, 2002 in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup . As 40th in Courchevel , he stayed without winning Continental Cup points. It wasn't until January 2005 that he achieved this for the first time with a 27th place in Lauscha . He also scored points in Brotterode , Westby and Iron Mountain . He ended his first successful season in 80th place overall with 51 points. In August 2005 he started in Courchevel at the Ski Jumping Grand Prix , but was 52nd without success. In February 2006 he started at the same place in two competitions in the FIS Cup and achieved good results with a fourth and a second place. At the Winter Universiade 2007 in Turin , after a good 20th place on the normal hill, he only reached rank 12 with the team in the end. From the large hill, he also jumped to 20th place. After he could not achieve any more points in the Continental Cup after the Universiade, he ended his active career at the end of the 2006/07 season .

Shortly after retiring from his career, he began working as a coach at the Comité de Savoie . In March 2016, Maitre took over the head coach of the French women's national team from Fred Zoz .
