Damien Monier (born August 27, 1982 in Clermont-Ferrand ) is a French track and road cyclist.

Athletic career

Damien Monier was third in the Chrono des Herbiers in the U23 class in 2002 . The following year he was French U23 champion in the single pursuit on the track and won the Chrono des Herbiers . In 2003 he drove at Cofidis as a trainee and got a professional contract there from the following season; he stayed with this team until 2012. In 2005 and 2008 Monier was French champion in the single pursuit of the elite.

Monier celebrated his greatest success to date with a stage win at the Giro d'Italia 2010 . In January 2012, Monier was hit by a car while training and suffered severe head injuries. After this accident, he found himself unable to continue at the level of a WorldTeam and he went to the Japanese UCI Continental Team Team Bridgestone Anchor . In 2014 he won a stage of the Tour International de Constantine and in 2016 the overall ranking of the Tour de Guadeloupe . In 2017 he decided a stage and the points classification of the Tour de Kumano for himself. The following year he switched to the Aisan Racing Team .
