Dan Brandon Bilzerian ( Armenian Տան Պիլզերեան , born December 7, 1980 in Tampa , Florida ) is an American social media personality.

Personal

Life and origin

Dan Bilzerian is the older son of Terri Steffen and Paul Bilzerian, a US corporate raider with Armenian roots . According to his own statement, a large part of Dan Bilzerian's family fell victim to the Armenian genocide in 1915. His younger brother is Adam Bilzerian. Since August 27, 2018, Dan and Adam Bilzerian as well as their father Paul have had Armenian citizenship. Dan Bilzerian also registered with the armed forces of Armenia .

Father Paul Bilzerian became known for controversial business practices for which he was sentenced to several years in prison in a trial from 1989 to 1991. Paul Bilzerian filed for bankruptcy following a $ 62 million fine in another lawsuit against the US Securities and Exchange Commission . He had already transferred large sums of his fortune to family members, in particular the family of his wife Steffen and to a trust fund for his son Dan. Bilzerian is therefore heir to a fortune that is estimated at around 100 to 140 million US dollars and is spread over a complex conglomerate of companies that also has trademark rights to his portrait. In 2016, Bilzerian had revenues of $ 9 million.

education

Dan Bilzerian signed up for the US Navy in 1999 and began training with the US Navy Seals . There he was dishonorably dismissed after four years, shortly before the end of the first phase of the SEAL training (BUD / S), for publicly insulting his commanding officer . He then began studying economics and criminology at the University of Florida .

Publicity efforts

Bilzerian has a very dissolute Playboy lifestyle and likes to be photographed with luxury cars, guns, money, private jets and scantily clad women. These images are regularly published on various social media platforms, in particular Instagram . Since he won several million followers with these pictures, Bilzerian was also known as the King of Instagram . According to himself, he has had several heart attacks because of this lifestyle.

Bilzerian won large sums of money several times in high-risk and publicity bets. He also played poker and came 180th at the 2009 World Poker Championship in Las Vegas . According to his own statements, he has already appeared several times as an investor and company founder, for example as a capital provider for the online poker platform Victory Poker, which operated from February 2010 to May 2011 .

In several American films, Bilzerian took small supporting roles. He took on a role as a stuntman in Olympus Has Fallen . He had other appearances in Lone Survivor (he had invested a million dollars himself to get the speaking role), Die Schadenfreundinnen , The Equalizer and Cat Run 2 .

He gained notoriety in April 2014 when a video was posted on the Internet showing him trying to throw porn actress Janice Griffith off a rooftop into a pool. This failed, however, Griffith landed on the edge of the pool and broke his left foot.

His announcement in June 2015 that he would run for the 2016 presidential election in the United States was deemed rather humorous by the US media. After the first election parties, including in nightclubs in New York, Boston and Las Vegas, the Bilzerian's “primary campaign” became significantly quieter. In December 2015, at a personal meeting, he announced that he would again support Donald Trump .

In October 2017, Bilzerian was present during the mass murder in Las Vegas . He first fled to safety and described what had happened, then returned to the scene where he asked the police for a firearm, which they refused, and so he drove home. He was then harshly criticized on the internet for his self- filmed actions and actions shared via Snapchat and Twitter : this kind of hypocritical self-portrayal during a real accident was disgusting and not helpful.
