Paul Fiedler

Paul Fiedler (born April 4, 1900 in Neustadt / Harz , † December 2, 1987 in Magdeburg ) was a German trade unionist ( FDGB ). He was chairman of the FDGB district executive committee in Magdeburg .

Life

Fiedler was born into a working class family. He attended elementary school and then completed an apprenticeship as a blacksmith . He then worked in this profession and as a repair fitter. In 1928 he joined the SPD . From 1937 to 1945 he worked as a fitter at the Junkers factories in Aschersleben .

After the war ended in 1945, Fiedler became a member of the FDGB and in 1946 a member of the SED . From 1945 he worked as a locksmith in Ermsleben near Ballenstedt / Harz. From 1946 to 1949 he was an operations assistant at VEB Walzwerk Hettstedt . In 1949/50 he acted as cadre secretary of the Hettstedt district leadership of the SED. In 1950 he became mayor of Burgörner . After attending the SED state party school in Ballenstedt, he worked from 1951 to 1955 as first secretary of the Osterburg district leadership of the SED. Between 1951 and 1954 and from 1955 to 1957 he completed a distance learning course at the party college "Karl Marx" .

From 1955 to 1958 he was chairman, from 1958 to 1962 second chairman of the FDGB district board in Magdeburg. In addition, Fiedler was a member of the SED district leadership in Magdeburg and at times also a member of the office of the SED district leadership. From 1962 to 1970 he was chairman of the district revision commission of the FDGB district board in Magdeburg. He was also the chairman of the veterans' commission of the FDGB district board and a member of the commission for the care of old deserving party members of the SED district leadership.

Fiedler died in Magdeburg at the age of 88.
