Heinz Kühnau

Heinz Kühnau (born August 7, 1921 in Großkayna ; † November 28, 1982 ) was a German FDGB functionary and SED functionary. From 1973 to March 1982 he was chairman of the FDGB district board in Magdeburg .

Life

Kühnau, the son of a working-class family, attended elementary school and learned to be a fitter . He then worked as a locksmith and welder in the Lützkendorf mineral oil works and, as a KPD member, belonged to the resistance group around Otto Gotsche and Herbert Kittelmann . From 1943 to 1945 he did military service in the Wehrmacht and became an American prisoner of war .

After his dismissal, he worked again as a locksmith and welder in the Lützkendorf mineral oil works in 1945/46 . In 1946 he became a member of the SED and the FDGB. In 1946/47 he was chairman of the works council, and in 1947/48 deputy head of the management department . In 1948/49 he studied at the German Administration Academy in Forst Zinna . In 1949/50 he worked as the cultural director of the VEB Sprengstoffwerk Schönebeck , in 1950/51 as the executive manager of the VVB Organa Halle . 1951/52 he studied at the party college "Karl Marx" . He was then head of department at the Magdeburg District Council in 1953/54 . From 1954 to 1956 he was secretary of the city leadership of the SED Magdeburg , then from 1956 to 1960 department head for economic policy in the SED district leadership of Magdeburg. Between 1960 and 1963 he was the personal assistant to the first secretary of the SED district leadership Alois Pisnik . From 1963 to 1967 he was again head of the economic policy department. From 1967 to June 1973 he was first secretary of the SED district leadership in Schönebeck (successor to the late Karl-Heinz Ahl ) and from June 1973 to March 1982 he was chairman of the FDGB district committee in Magdeburg and a member of the SED district leadership and its secretariat. From 1977 to 1982 Kühnau was also a member of the federal executive committee of the FDGB.
