Dan Constantinescu

Dan Constantinescu (born June 10, 1931 in Bucharest , † February 6, 1993 ) was a Romanian composer .

Constantinescu came from a noble family on his mother's side and grew up in Pucioasa . Between 1950 and 1955 he studied at the Bucharest Conservatory with Paul Constantinescu , Marțian Negrea , Theodor Rogalski , Leon Klepper and Mihail Jora . From 1962 he worked there as a composition teacher.

His students included Carmen Maria Cârneci , Gabriel Vlădescu and Dan Dediu .

In addition to orchestral pieces, Constantinescu composed a piano concerto, chamber music works, piano sonatas, choirs and songs . He was awarded by the Romanian Composers Association in 1976 and 1980. In 1968 Constantinescu received the prize for piano concerto and small orchestra from the Romanian Academy .
