Dan Gottshall

Dan Gottshall (born October 7, 1961 in Pottstown ) is an American jazz musician (trombone).

Career

Gottshall grew up in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Towson State University near Baltimore. He then belonged to the Clayton / Hamilton Big Band in Los Angeles before settling in Germany. From 1993 to 2001 he was the lead trombonist in the RIAS Big Band Berlin ; he also played in the Berlin Contemporary Jazz Orchestra . Peter Herbolzheimer also brought him to his Rhythm Combination & Brass.

Gottshall has been a permanent member of the NDR Bigband since 2002 . At the same time he teaches at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater as professor for jazz trombone . Gottshall has released several albums under his own name and can also be heard on records by Chaka Khan , Peter Herborn , Chuck Brown , João Bosco , Omar Sosa , Norma Winstone , Joe Gallardo , Wolfgang Haffner and Michael Gibbs .
