Daniel Andrew "Dan" Harding (born December 23, 1983 in Gloucester ) is an English football player who has been under contract with the English fifth division FC Eastleigh since 2015 .
Player career
Brighton & Hove Albion
Dan Harding made his debut for Brighton & Hove Albion on August 17, 2002 in a 2-0 home loss to Norwich City. In 2004, the club won the play-off final of the third-rate Football League Second Division in front of 65,167 spectators at Millennium Stadium against Bristol City 1-0. In the course of the Football League Championship 2004/05 , the left defender became a regular player in his team and achieved relegation in the new division with the promoted team.
Leeds United and Ipswich Town
On June 7, 2005, he signed a three-year contract with Leeds United . With his new team, Harding (20 league games) moved into the play-off final of the Football League Championship 2005/06 (0-3 against Watford FC), but was not used in the final game.
After only one season in Leeds , he left the club and moved to Ipswich Town on August 4, 2006 . The following two seasons he spent with Ipswich in the second division, but lost his regular place in the course of the 2007/08 season and then moved in the summer of 2008 on loan to third division Southend United . On January 29, 2009 another change followed on loan to Reading FC .
Southampton FC
After his contract at Ipswich was not renewed, he signed on July 22, 2009 a two-year contract with Southampton FC . After a narrowly missed play-off move in the first season, Dan Harding won with the Saints the runner-up in Football League One 2010/11 . The success was increased by the election of Dan Harding to the PFA Team of the Year of the third division. Previously, the club had won the Football League Trophy in 2010 by beating Carlisle United 4-1 in the final. The newcomer also found his way in the new league and, as runner-up in the 2011/12 championship, went straight through to the Premier League behind Reading FC . However, Dan Harding did not appear as hoped after the signing of Danny Fox from Burnley FC and therefore decided to change clubs after three successful years in Southampton .
Nottingham Forest
On July 28, 2012, Dan Harding signed a three-year contract with Nottingham Forest .
