The path of the peaceful warrior

The Path of the Peaceful Warrior , Millman's first book, is an autobiographical novel set primarily during his college years. Initially, the book sold only modestly, this supposedly only changed in 1984 when publisher Hal Kramer returned from retirement to republish the book and helped make it a bestseller .

In the summer of 2006 Lions Gate Films released a film version of the book called Peaceful Warrior with Scott Mechlowicz and Nick Nolte as actors.

Table of contents

The story tells of a chance acquaintance of the young gymnast Dan Millman with a gas station attendant. After Millman's right leg is shattered in a motorcycle accident, this gas station attendant, whom Dan calls "Socrates", becomes a mentor and spiritual teacher for him. Socrates shows the young man how he can become a peaceful warrior .

"I call myself a Peaceful Warrior ... because the battles we fight are within us."
