Daniel Arce Ibañez (born April 22, 1992 in Burgos ) is a Spanish athlete who competes over 3000 meters obstacle .
Athletic career
Daniel Arce has been competing in international obstacle courses since 2010. After finishing second in the Spanish U20 championships at the beginning of July, he joined the U20 World Championships in Moncton, Canada that same month . There, however, he was eliminated as ninth in his run. In spring 2011 he competed in the U20 races at the World Cross Country Championships in his Spanish homeland. He finished 94th. Over 3000 meters obstacle he became the Spanish U20 champion in the summer and then, as in the previous year, competed in the U20 European Championships in Tallinn in the same month . This time he survived the preliminary run and finished tenth in the final in 9: 13.07 minutes. In 2012, he only competed in national competitions over 1500 meters.
Over this distance he only competed in the Spanish championships and other national meetings in the following years, but could not achieve any top positions. After completely missing out on the 2016 season, he returned to the obstacle course for the first time in 2017. Compared to his best time of 9: 08.54 min in 2011, he was able to improve in 2018 to a time of 8:29:24 min. With his second place at the Spanish championships in 2018, he qualified for the European championships in Berlin. First, Arce started at the Mediterranean Games in Tarragona, where he finished eighth. In Berlin he moved into the final as third of his preliminary run, in which he finished sixth in 8: 38.12 minutes. In spring 2019 he finished fifth in the Spanish indoor championships over 3000 meters. In Rome in June, Arce set a best time of 8: 20.16 minutes over a 3000 meter obstacle. He succeeded in qualifying for the world championships in Doha. There he was eliminated in ninth place in the preliminary run and finished in 28th place. In August 2020 he improved his best time at the Diamond League Meeting in Monaco to 8: 19.40 min.
