Daniel Auner

Daniel Auner (* 1987 in Vienna ) is an Austrian violinist.

Career

Daniel Auner started playing the piano at the age of five. At the age of six he got a violin and began taking violin lessons at the J. Matthias Hauer Music School in Wiener Neustadt. At the age of 10 he came to the music school Margareten, to Arkadij Vinokurow. He achieved early success in national youth competitions, for example when he was eight he received the " Prima la musica " special prize. After taking part in a preparatory course in 2000, he studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Christian Altenburger since 2005 and then switched to Igor Ozim at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg . In 2013 he graduated with honors from the violin master’s program. He then studied in Boris Kuschnir's master class until 2017 . He attends master classes with Pavel Vernikov , Christian Altenburger, Midori Goto , Igor Ozim and Rainer Kussmaul, among others. In addition to his solo appearances, he plays chamber music as violinist with the Vienna Mozart Trio , the Auner Quartet and the Duo Mozartiano. He also plays chamber music with partners such as Dennis Russell Davies , Pavel Gililov , Wolfgang Boettcher , Hannfried Lucke , Frans Helmerson , Christian Altenburger , Jan Vogler and Patrick Demenga . Daniel Auner has been supported by the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs as part of the “New Austrian Sound of Music” cultural funding program and has already served as a cultural ambassador in Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, England, Ireland, Albania, Bosnia, Brazil, Brunei, Bulgaria, Indonesia, Canada, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Peru, Slovakia, Thailand, Tunisia, Hungary, South Africa, Belize, China, Belarus, Colombia and the USA occurred.

Daniel Auner plays a violin by Giovanni Battista Guadagnini from the collection of valuable string instruments of the Oesterreichische Nationalbank .

Concerts and prizes

Daniel Auner gave several concerts a. a. in the Wiener Konzerthaus and in the Wiener Musikverein and performed as a soloist with various orchestras. Including the Tonkünstler Orchester Niederösterreich, Orquestra Sinfónica Portuguesa, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Neuss am Rhein, the Bergische Symphoniker, the Orchestra of St. Pauls, the Divertimento Orchestra Ottawa, the Ensemble Neue Streicher, the Mödlinger Symphonische Orchester, the orchestra of Matthias Hauer Conservatory, the orchestra of the Musikgymnasium Wien and the orchestra of the TU Wien. He worked with several well-known conductors such as Andres Orozco-Estrada, Dennis-Russel Davies and Josep Caballé-Domenech.

In March 2006 he won the 2nd prize at the international violin competition "Stefanie Hohl" of the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. In 2007 he won the 3rd prize for violin at the 14th International Johannes Brahms Competition in Pörtschach . In 2008 he won second prize at the international "Violin in Dresden" competition, as well as the audience award and an MDR studio production. The national competition "Gradus ad Parnassum 2010", he won first prize in the violin and played in the winners concert with the Lower Austrian Tonkünstler under Josep Caballé-Domenech , the Violin Concerto by Alban Berg .

Daniel Auner has been part of the Vienna Mozart Trio since 2008 and has performed in Austria, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Albania, France, Germany, England, Ireland, China, Malaysia, Brunei, Thailand and Holland.

In 2013 he founded the Auner Quartet together with Barbara de Menezes Galante, Konstantin Zelenin and Natalia Binkowska . This ensemble plays its own chamber music cycle in various concert halls in Vienna, including the Bank Austria Salon Altes Rathaus, and is represented by the concert agency Mark Stephan Buhl.

His debut CD "Caprice Viennois" was released in December 2010 and was greeted by the press with the words "A young violinist cannot imagine better." reviewed. Furthermore, a CD with Mozart's violin sonatas was released in April 2014, which was recorded together with the British pianist Robin Green at the Salzburg Mozarteum. This CD was recommended as CD of the month by "The Strad" magazine.

Teaching activity

In 2015 Daniel Auner started teaching at the Vienna Music Academy . Since 2016 he has also been teaching at the Prayner Conservatory in Vienna.
