Daniel Peter De Silva (born March 6, 1997 in Perth ) is an Australian football player .
Career
De Silva's football training began with Olympic Kingsway and the Stirling Lions before joining the National Training Center of the Western Australian Federation in 2012. His talent was recognized at an early stage, in 2009 he took part in the national school championship and a little later belonged to an Australian U-13 selection that took part in a tournament of the Asian Football Confederation in Malaysia. In 2011 he played in the qualification for the U-16 Asian Cup and was part of the 2012 finals of youth national coach Alistair Edwards .
At the beginning of 2013, the midfielder aimed to move to the English club Everton , which could not be realized due to visa problems. Instead, he signed a professional contract with Perth Glory until the end of the 2014/15 season. Shortly before his 16th birthday, De Silva made his debut in the A-League on March 2, 2013 against Sydney FC . With his substitution he became the second youngest player in league history after Teeboy Kamara . By the end of the season, Perth coach Alistair Edwards used him three more times, including in the play-off game against Melbourne Victory .
In April 2013 De Silva was invited to a perspective training camp by U-20 national coach Paul Okon , but after just one training session, Okon decided to include De Silva in the current U-20 squad and nominated him for the U-20 World Cup in June 2013 in Turkey. As the youngest player of the tournament, he scored the Australian goal in the 1-1 game against Colombia, but the draw remained Australia's only point win in the course of the tournament. With the goal he also became the third youngest goalscorer in tournament history.
In the summer of 2015, De Silva moved to Roda Kerkrade in the Dutch Eredivisie .
