Daniel K. Hoch
Daniel Knabb Hoch (born January 31, 1866 in Reading , Pennsylvania , † October 11, 1960 ibid) was an American politician . Between 1943 and 1947 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .
Career
Born on a farm in Berks County , Daniel Hoch attended public schools in his home country and then completed an apprenticeship in printing. Then he worked in the newspaper industry. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . Between 1899 and 1901 he was a member of the House of Representatives from Pennsylvania . In July 1908 he attended the Democratic National Convention in Denver as a delegate . From 1912 to 1916 he held the post of auditor ( controller ) in Berks County. Since 1937 he was the curator of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church .
In the 1942 congressional elections , Hoch was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the 14th constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded Guy L. Moser on January 3, 1943 . After being re-elected, he was able to complete two terms in Congress until January 3, 1947 . These were shaped by the events of the Second World War and its consequences. Since 1945 high represented the 13th district of his state as the successor to Ivor D. Fenton . In 1946 he was not re-elected.
After his time in the US House of Representatives, Daniel Hoch did historical research. He died on October 11, 1960 in his hometown of Reading.
