biography

Daniel Meier comes from Feldkirch and starts for WSV Nofels .

At the age of 15, he contested his first FIS races in Davos . In January 2012 he made his European Cup debut in the giant slalom in Méribel and won points straight away as 19th. In the next few years he was only able to improve slowly due to injuries and achieved his first two podium places in the 2016/17 season . In March 2012 he took part in a junior world championship in Roccaraso for the first time and was eliminated in the giant slalom. At his second and last JWM participation in Québec in 2013 , he finished fifth in his favorite discipline.

On March 10, 2012, he made his World Cup debut in the giant slalom in Kranjska Gora , but was only used sporadically in the next two winters. In February 2014, he suffered a protracted back injury and had to almost completely skip the 2014/15 European Cup season and - after an adductor injury - also 2015/16. At the beginning of 2016 he competed in a number of races at FIS level. In his comeback season, he not only achieved his first podium places in the European Cup, but also won World Cup points for the first time with 18th place in Kranjska Gora. At the end of winter he won the bronze medal in the giant slalom at the Austrian championships at Hochkar . He successfully started the 2017/18 season with a win in the Australian New Zealand Cup , but suffered a cruciate ligament rupture in his left knee just a week later .
