Daniel Micka (2007)

Daniel Micka (born April 22, 1963 in Prague ) is a Czech writer and translator from English and French into the Czech language .

Live and act

Daniel Micka published his stories in many literary magazines . Two collections were published by Petrov Verlag, another was published by Dybbuk Verlag (first as an e-book ). Some of his stories have appeared in translation in foreign literary anthologies or magazines.

In addition to books, he also translated texts for Czechoslovak TV and the Alfafilm Society.

In addition to prose , Daniel Micka is currently doing translations from English and French for various publishers, especially books on psychology and religion . He also works as a publisher's editor. He lives and works in Prague .

- A collection of 23 short stories that express the feelings of a lonely person who dares to step out in the direction of people, but who searches in vain for his place in life. The end result of all narratives is consequently the downfall and indifference in relation to others and vice versa.
- A collection of 42 thematically diverse narratives, united by feelings of extermination, groping people, embarrassment about life and interpersonal relationships, and fear of other people. The book is mirror-symmetrical to the previous one, actually its continuation.

- Another collection of narrative reflections based on unusual situations that appear in many unfamiliar variants, but in the same role. A literary and existential statement from someone who, in the search for a human being , guides the reader through a fantastic world, even if the mini-stories reflect the absurdity of the real world. The second part, The Dreams About Philanthropy , shows dreamy ideas and secret corners of the author's soul - and also of the reader, who completely absorbs the imagination and atmosphere of the prose, both terrible and attractive.

Inspirations

  • Stanislav Zajíček used the motifs of Micka's published stories as a script for an original play Koťátka a tyrani (Kittens and Tyrants), which the Student Theater Pária at Matyáš Lerch Gymnasium (GML) in Brno studied under his direction and after the premiere on November 9, 2002 in presented in the GML auditorium in two presentations.
  • Jan Antonín Pitínský used fragments from Daniel Micka's texts in the scenario of the second part of the game Bluesmeni (based on a fictional antology Blues 1890–1940 by Michal Šanda ), which he directed the " Ostrava Petr Bezruč" theater and after the premiere on November 11, 2011 in the scene of a puppet theater until the Dernière remained in his repertoire on November 15, 2012.
