Daniel Munduruku
Daniel Munduruku Monteiro Costa (born February 28, 1964 in Belém , Pará ) is one of the most important and best known Brazilian writers of indigenous origin. He belongs to the indigenous people of the Munduruku .
Life
Munduruku is a graduate of Philosophy , History and Psychology , holds a Masters degree in Cultural Anthropology from the Universidade de São Paulo and a PhD in Education from the Universidade de São Paulo. In addition to being a writer, he also works as a teacher and has a leading role in many organizations that promote the culture and literature of the indigenous people of Brazil.
Munduruku is President of Instituto Indígena Brasileiro da Propriedade Intelectual and Director of Instituto Uk'a - a casa dos saberes ancestrais. He is an advisor to the Museu do Indio in Rio de Janeiro and also teaches there. In 2010 he was involved in organizing the First Indigenous Book Fair in Cuiabá in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso . The Goethe-Institut even invited him to Africa.
Writing
Munduruku has published over 50 books to date. Many of them are in the field of children's and youth literature . He collects the ancient myths of the indigenous peoples and describes their lives. In Tempo de Historias he writes about his work as a teacher, Coisas do Indio is an encyclopedia about everything that defines the life of the indigenous people. The book is also available in a children's version. He is a member of the Academia de Letras de Lorena . He was also one of the 70 writers who represented Brazil as Guest of Honor at the 2013 International Book Fair in Frankfurt.

- Honorable mention at the UNESCO Prize for Children's and Young People's Literature in the Service of Tolerance.
- Prize of the national youth book foundation Fundação Nacional para o Livro Infantil e Juvenil (FNLIJ) in 2005.
- Prêmio Jabuti de Literatura (Jabuti Literature Prize) in 2004.
- Prêmio de Literatura Infanto-Juvenil of the Academia Brasileira de Letras , Rio de Janeiro, in 2008 for O olho bom do menino .
- Prize Érico Vanucci Mendes, do Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico .
