Daniel Myrmæl Helgestad (born July 9, 1987 ) is a Norwegian cross-country skier .

Career

Helgestad started in the 50 km freestyle race on Holmenkollen in Oslo for the first time in the World Cup in March 2008 and finished the race in 43rd place. Helgestad also succeeded in his other World Cup appearances - with 45th place over 50 km freestyle in the mass start in March 2010 on Holmenkollen and 37th place over 15 km freestyle in March 2014 in Lahti - not to place in the points.

He was more successful in the Scandinavian Cup , where he won a 15 km race in free style in Madone in February 2014 and in Lillehammer in December of the same year . In February 2014, he also finished second in the classic-style 30 km mass start race in Meråker . He finished the 2013/14 season in second place overall.

At the Norwegian Championships in Gålå in 2014 , he finished second in the 50 km freestyle mass start. In March 2015 he got his first World Cup points with 28th place in the 50 km mass start race in Oslo . In the 2015/16 season he was able to score points in all five competitions in the World Cup. His best placement was the 13th place over 10 km classic in Falun . In the Scandinavian Cup he took second place in the 15 km freestyle in Vuokatti and third place in the 15 km mass start race in Östersund . In March 2016 he was ninth in the Mintour in Otepää . He ran the third fastest time in the final stage and finished third in the overall ranking of the Scandinavian Cup at the end of the season.
