Daniel Schulz (born February 21, 1986 in Berlin ) is a former German soccer player and current coach .
Life
Schulz started playing football at VfB Friedrichshain at the age of seven. From there he moved to FSV Berolina Stralau for one season in 1997 , before joining the youth team at BFC Dynamo . At the age of 15 he finally came to 1. FC Union Berlin .
In 2004 Schulz joined the squad of the first men's team, but played almost the entire 2004/05 season for the youth department before he ended the season - when the club was no longer able to prevent relegation from the regional league - celebrated his competitive debut.
In the following season he initially gained more playing experience until a tear in the cruciate ligament threw him back. Only in the following year he became a regular player and completed 34 of 36 possible games. The coach of the German U-21 national team Dieter Eilts then used him in two games.
Schulz was appointed team captain by the new Union coach Uwe Neuhaus at the beginning of the 2007/08 season . In the same season he managed to qualify for the new third professional league with the Unionern . However, he himself injured his meniscus shortly before the end of the season and therefore only made his debut in the third division in early November 2008. At the end of the season, the team celebrated their return to the second Bundesliga .
In the second division season 2009/10 Schulz lost the captaincy and also came only to five missions. He moved back to the third division for the 2010/11 season for SV Sandhausen . There he was part of the regular squad again from the start. In his second year with Sandhausen, he rose to the 2nd division.
After six seasons, he left Sandhausen in the summer of 2016 and signed a three-year contract with the regional league team Stuttgarter Kickers .
After a year, however, the Kickers and Schulz separated again. He moved to FC Viktoria Berlin in the Regionalliga Nordost . After playing 12 games in the 2017/2018 season, he left Viktoria in the summer of 2018.
In July 2018, Schulz became the A-youth coach of 1. FC Union Berlin in the A-Juniors Bundesliga .
