Daniela Kocmut (born April 26, 1980 in Maribor , Slovenia ) is a bilingual Austrian - Slovenian writer and translator .

Life

From 1991 she grew up in Hermagor, Carinthia . She has lived in Graz as a translator since 1999 and teaches Slovene at Urania and in “treffpunkt sprachen” at the University of Graz . Kocmut studied translation studies in Graz and Dublin . So far, some of her literary translations from Slovenian into German have been published (by Drago Jančar , Maruša Krese , Katarina Marinčič , Veno Taufer , Marjan Tomšič , Zofka Kveder, among others ).

Daniela Kocmut has received several translation grants, including a. the BMUKK work grant for translation 2009.

Since 2013 she has been the workshop manager of the international translation project "Trans-Star Europe". Kocmut writes poetry in German and Slovenian. She is also editor of the international literary magazine Lichtungen .
