Daniele Barioni (born September 6, 1930 in Copparo , Italy ) is an Italian opera singer ( baritone / tenor ).

Life

Worked as a baritone at the beginning of his career , he sang as a tenor afterwards . In 1949 he made his debut at the Milan Circolo Italia in a concert in which the Chilean soprano Claudia Parada also took part. In 1954 he made his operatic debut at the Teatro Nuovo in Milan in the role of Turiddu in the opera Cavalleria rusticana . On February 20, 1956, he first appeared in the New York Metropolitan Opera when he sang Cavaradossi in the opera Tosca with Delia Rigal and George London . In total he was active in 54 appearances for the New York Opera for seven years and ended his time there with the role of the Italian singer in Der Rosenkavalier .

In his career, in addition to other worldwide appearances, he also participated in the Italian film Carosello di Canzoni . In 1966 he sang Turiddu and Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly at La Scala in Milan . Until 1975 he was also regularly musically active in various US cities.

His other roles included: Dick Johnson in La fanciulla del West , Ismaele in Nabucco , Macduff in Macbeth , Loris in Fedora , the title role in Andrea Chénier , Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor , Calaf in Turandot and Enzo in La Gioconda .

He appeared on June 18, 1966 as a guest on the German TV show One Will Win . Between 1975 and 1980 his appearances became less frequent. In 1981 he gave his last concert at the Teatro Comunale in Ferrara with Renata Tebaldi as a partner . Here he received the Premio Frescobaldi in 1980 .
