Daniil Sobchenko ( Russian Даниил Евгеньевич Собченко , Ukrainian Данило Євгенович Собченко / Danylo Jewhenowytsch Sobtschenko * 13. April 1991 in Kiev , Ukrainian SSR , † 7. September 2011 in Tunoschna in Yaroslavl ) was a Russian - Ukrainian hockey player , who during his career was under contract with Lokomotive Yaroslavl in the Continental Hockey League .

Career

Daniil Sobchenko started his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of HK Sokol Kiev . From there he moved to the junior division of the Russian first division club Lokomotive Yaroslavl , for whose second team he was active in the third class Pervaya League from 2007 to 2009 . The center then made his debut in the Continental Hockey League for Lokomotives professional team in the 2009-10 season . In his rookie year he was able to assert himself in the KHL straight away and score five goals and one assist in 41 games. At the same time he was used in six games for Lokomotives junior team in the multinational junior league Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaja Liga and contributed four assists.

The 2010/11 season began Sobchenko in parallel in Lokomotives KHL team, as well as with their juniors in the MHL. In the 2011 NHL Entry Draft , he was selected in the sixth round as a total of 166 players by the San Jose Sharks . On September 7, 2011, he was killed in a plane crash near Yaroslavl .

International

For Russia Sobchenko took part in the U20 World Junior Championship in 2011 , where he won the gold medal with his team. He contributed to winning the title with four goals and three assists in seven games. He had already participated in the 2008 World U-17 Hockey Challenge three years earlier .
