Miguel Darío Miranda y Gollaz (born January 10, 1947 in León , Guanajuato , Mexico , † February 23, 2012 ibid), also known by the nickname La Pantera Rosa , was a Mexican football player in the position of goalkeeper .

career

Miranda began his professional career in the 1967/68 season at his hometown club Club León , with whom he won the Mexican Cup and Supercup twice in a row in the 1970/71 and 1971/72 seasons and twice ( 1972/73 and 1974/75 ) Was runner-up in the Mexican League .

In 1975 Miranda moved to Atlas Guadalajara , where he was under contract until the end of his active career in the 1979/80 season.

Nickname

He got his nickname La Pantera Rosa (Eng. The Pink Panther ) after he wore a pink goalkeeper jersey in a game against Club Necaxa .

Darío Miranda died a few days after a tragic accident in the IMSS T1 clinic in his hometown of León. On Sunday, February 19, 2012, Miranda lit a cigarette in his car. The match fell down and ignited immediately, so that the car went up in flames within a few seconds. Miranda was unable to free himself from the burning vehicle, so he had to rely on the help of family members and neighbors. Immediately after they freed him from the car, Miranda was admitted to the intensive care unit at Clínica T1, where he succumbed to his injuries a few days later.
