Darkness - Shadow of the Past (Original title: Den som dræber - Fanget af mørket ) is a Danish crime series by the streaming provider Viaplay , which was first published on March 1, 2019. It is an offshoot of the Danish-German crime series Northern Lights - Murderers without Regrets . The German-language first publication took place on November 26, 2019 at Joyn .
In November 2019, the series was extended for a second season, the release of which is scheduled for January 2021.

The series is about the work of a team of specialists in the Copenhagen criminal investigation department, which is dedicated to investigating serial killers. The team of the lead investigator Jan Michelsen is supported by the profiler Louise Bergstein.
