GDR field fistball championships 1966
The GDR field fistball championships in 1966 were the 17th edition of the fistball championships on the field in the GDR . The two final tournaments of the four first-placed women and men in the Oberliga took place on September 10 and 11, 1966 in Hirschfelde .
The mode stipulated that in the final round the first four teams of the main round first played a semi-final first against the fourth and second against the third and then the winners in the final and the losers in the game for third place competed against each other.

The women's league was held in two seasons, which played against each other on game days 1 and 3 and against the teams of the other season on game days 2 and 4. In season I Energie Görlitz, ISG Hirschfelde, Lokschleife and SG Leipzig-Eutritzsch played. In Season II locomotive Schwerin, unit Rostock, motor Rathenow and Turbine Halle competed.
The games were scheduled for the following days:
- 1st matchday: June 5, 1966: Season I in Görlitz, on June 4, 1966 Season II in Schwerin
- 2nd matchday: June 26, 1966: both seasons in Leipzig
- 3rd matchday: July 31, 1966: Season I in Dresden, Season II in Rathenow
- 4th matchday: August 21, 1966: both seasons in Berlin
The fourth game day took place on September 19, 1966 in Görlitz.

Promotion / relegation : Newcomer Turbine Halle and SG Leipzig-Eutritzsch were relegated to the league. Eight teams were eligible to participate in the promotion round games on September 3 and 4, 1966 in Magdeburg . These were the winners of the league seasons I and IV and the two best seasons II, III and V. After the rejection of the Berliner Bär unit, Lok Dresden was unbeaten in first place among the teams that played a single round . The SG Heidenau as second placed also achieved promotion.

The teams of the Oberliga played in two seasons, with ISG Hirschfelde, progress Zittau, Motor Dresden-Ost, Energie Görlitz and progress Eppendorf in season I and Chemie Zeitz, Lok Wittstock, Motor West Erfurt, SG Leipzig-Eutritzsch and Einheit Halle in Season II played. The relays only played among themselves on two game days and against the teams of the other relay on two other game days.

Promotion / relegation : The last two teams relegated to the GDR league. The two best teams of each of the four league seasons took part in the promotion games to the league on September 17 and 18 in Halle. Empor Rudolstadt and Wissenschaft Halle rose to the top division.
