The GDR field fistball championships in 1956 were the seventh edition of the GDR championships for men and women in field fistball in the GDR in 1956.
The finals took place on 15./16. September 1956 in the "Stadium of Friendship" in Görlitz .
For the second time, activist Hirschfelde's men fought for the title by winning the decisive match against Stahl Leipzig. The championship of women was even more controversial. Despite more routine, Rotation Dresden Mitte finally had to let the much younger Empor Barby collective win.
The women's league was held in two groups. The first three of each group qualified for the final tournament.

On September 23, 1956, the decisive games for promotion and relegation of the league were played on the Südkampfbahn in Leipzig - Connewitz also for the men. Participants were the winners of the five regional relays.
