The GDR field fistball championships in 1968 were the nineteenth edition of the fistball championships on the field in the GDR .
German fistball champions of the GDR became the representations of ISG Hirschfelde for men and women. The final tournaments of the four best women's and men's teams took place in Eppendorf in the Ore Mountains on the weekend of September 14, 1968.
In the promotion games on September 28 and 29, 1968 in Erfurt , the first place in each of the five league seasons and also the second in season II took part. Turbine Halle (Season IV) canceled. In addition to the two direct climbers Lokschleife II and TSG Berlin-Oberschöneweide, the third-placed Lok Schwerin was also allowed to climb.

Promotion / relegation : Chemie Weißwasser and Einheit Halle were relegated directly and played in the GDR league the following season . For them, Pentacon Dresden and Motor Greiz rose.
Final tournament
The Hirschfelder ISG only reached the final after a hard-fought 50:46 (37:37) win in extra time against progress Zittau, but surprised in the final with an impeccable overall performance and gave the European Cup winner of 1966 and 1967 Chemie Zeitz 42:36 neglect.
