The GDR field fistball championships in 1960 were the eleventh edition of the GDR championships for men and women in field fistball in the GDR in 1960.
The season was marked by a major restructuring of the leagues. From the two relays, formerly groups, each with seven teams for men and six teams for women, a single-track league with twelve (women) and 14 teams (men) was formed. The last matchday thus became the championship final. This returned to the mode that existed until 1955. The women had a direct relegation and two other teams had to go into relegation. For the men, two teams were relegated and two more had to compete in the relegation. This served to reduce the number of single-track leagues due to the merging of the relay.
The women's league was played in a single-track league again from this year. Participants were all qualified teams from the previous year.

Relegation and promotion The last of the league was relegated directly to the league. In the promotion games to the upper league on August 20 and 21, 2019 on the Südkampfbahn in Leipzig, four league representatives and the upper division clubs in places ten and eleven took part in order to qualify for the 1961 upper league . The first two qualified directly. The upper division could not prevail in this relegation. In addition, the third placed in the promotion round rose as a replacement for the team from Empor Barby, which was eliminated for the next season .
Motor Mitte Görlitz did not take part in the following league for unknown reasons.
