GDR field fistball championships 1978

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The GDR field fistball championships in 1978 were the 29th edition of the fistball championships on the field in the GDR in 1978 since 1949 .

final

The two final tournaments of the four first-placed women and men in the Oberliga took place in the stadium “25. Anniversary ”in Geithain .

The traditional final round was at a very good level, although due to the previous continuous rain, the lawn only allowed a few technical refinements in the game on the two-meter high leash. Hit hardness, centimeter-accurate pass to skilful core, hammer or round hits as well as enormous willingness to work were the salient features, and the elite of the more than 8000 active players between the Baltic Sea and the Erzgebirge once again proved that fistball is an attractive, interesting and demanding sport.

In the men's competition, in which the 14-time GDR champion ISG Hirschfelde was only a spectator for the first time since 1955, defending champion Lok Dresden asserted himself sovereignly and only had more trouble than expected against his second set. Progress Glauchau fought for second place ahead of old master Chemie Zeitz. Newcomer to the league, Lok Dresden II, by no means dropped out, but his strengths are more in indoor play.

The enthusiastic audience did not skimp on applause - especially for the line players who convey the leather into the opposing half. Besides Hellmut Pöge ( Lok Dresden I ), Rolf Malecha ( Progress Glauchau ) and veteran Wolfgang Ehrlich ( Chemie Zeitz ) also stood out.

In the women's competition, Chemie Weißwasser dominated, whose athletes were allowed to decorate themselves with the champions' badge for the second time after 1973 in Lichtenstein. The title winner of the past four years, the Görlitzer Spielgemeinschaft, had no chance due to the loss of two regular players.

Promotion round: According to the rules, there was a promotion round with the four season winners of the district group league and the upper league bottom - due to the withdrawal of ISG Hirschfelde - the team from Progress Groitzsch.

1The ISG Hirschfelde did not start on the last matchday, so their games against Plasttechnik Greiz, Traktor Bachfeld and Medizin Erfurt were each rated 2 × 0:15. This had no influence on participation in the final round and relegation.

Relegation: According to the newly decided regulation, the first team of the three GDR leagues rose directly from this season, so that there were now also three league relegators. First division medicine Erfurt, the second representation of the ISG Hirschfelde and the BSG Traktor Bachfeld were relegated from the upper division. Their places were taken in 1979 by the league relay winners Empor Tangermünde, Motor Schleusingen and progress Walddorf.
