The GDR field fistball championships in 1979 were the 30th edition of the fistball championships on the field in the GDR in 1979.
The two final tournaments of the four top division winners of the women and men were planned for Saturday, September 22, 1979 in Jena . For the first time since the introduction of the final round of the championship, it was canceled due to unfavorable weather conditions (continuous rain). The office of the presidium of the DFV of the GDR decided after two of the planned twelve games, to evaluate the table positions of the point game rounds as the respective championship conclusion.
Promotion / relegation: The newcomer from Heidenau had to qualify for the 1980 Oberliga in a promotion round with the relay winners of the district group league . Rotation Berlin also achieved promotion to start the next season with eight teams in the highest women's fistball league. The winners of the seasons were Empor Barby (Season I), Rotation Berlin I (Season II), TU Dresden (Season III) and Traktor Seebergen (Season IV). Because of the withdrawal of the Görlitz gaming community, Empor Barby was also able to rise as third place in the promotion round.
1 Because of the repeated use of a player who was not eligible to play, points were initially deducted, and the team was finally removed from the rating after the fourth match day.
Relegation / promotion:
The teams from Empor Tangermünde and Motor Zwickau-Süd relegated to the GDR league alongside Lok Dresden II. The teams Lokomotive Güstrow (Season I), Traktor Bachfeld (Season II) as a relegated league and Rotation Dresden (Season III) as a promoted to the league in 1980 were established as the season winners .
