The GDR field fistball championships in 1972 were the 23rd edition of the fistball championships in the GDR in 1972 since 1949 .

The final fights of the four best teams in the league took place on Saturday, September 23, 1972 in Hirschfelde .

Relegation: The last placed team had to relegate the GDR champions Progress Zittau to the GDR league!

In the promotion round of the league relay winners in Jüterbog, the teams Lok Wittstock and activist Freienhufen reached the upper league. Due to the expansion of the league by one place to eleven teams, there were two relegation games of the league bottom medicine Erfurt and the third place in the promotion round unit Jüterbog in the "Stadium of Railway Workers" in Delitzsch. Both teams each won a game, but the Jüterboger scored the better ball difference and thus rose.
