Dascha Yolaine Polanco (born December 3, 1982 ) is a Dominican actress .

Life

Polanco was born in the Dominican Republic and emigrated to the United States at a young age. Here she grew up in New York City and Miami . She has two children.

Career

Polanco has a degree in psychology from Hunter College . Then Polanco studied to become a nurse. Her fiancé convinced her to go into acting. Her first acting experiences were in minor roles in the television series Unforgettable and NYC 22 .

2012 Polanco was for Netflix - TV series Orange Is the New Black cast. Here she played a supporting role in the first two seasons. She has played a leading role since the third season. She also plays the wife of Raymond Santana's father in the Netflix series When They See Us .
