Distribution and systematics

Dasylirion durangense is distributed in Mexico in Durango and Zacatecas at altitudes from 1800 to 2100 m. The species grows on stony slopes together with Yucca decipiens , Nolina durangensis and Opuntia species.

It was first described in 1911 by William Trelease .

The rare Dasylirion durangense is a member of the Glaucophyllum section . It is only common in limited areas in Durango and Zacatecas. The species is closely related to Dasylirion wheeleri , but differences in inflorescence and fruit structure can be seen.

Dasylirion durangense can withstand short periods of frost down to minus 8 ° C. Dasylirion durangense is little known.
