Nolina durangensis is a species of the genus Nolina in the asparagus family (Asparagaceae). An English common name is "Creamy-Green Flowers Beargrass".
description
Nolina durangensis grows without a stem and is rhizomatous . The variable, grass-like, green to yellow-colored leaves that fall on the ground are 40 to 80 cm long and 7 to 11 mm wide. The leaf margins are serrated.
The inflorescence is 0.4 to 1.4 m high with numerous long branches. The green to cream-colored flowers are 1.7 to 2.5 mm long and wide. The flowering period is in May.
When ripe, the woody capsule fruits are 7 to 10 mm in diameter. The spherical seeds are 3 mm in diameter.
Distribution and systematics
Nolina durangensis is distributed in Mexico in the state of Durango . It is associated with Dasylirion durangense .
Nolina durangensis , another representative of the Microcarpae section , is rare and currently hardly known. Characteristic is the inflorescence beginning above the leaves with long branches.
It was first described in 1911 by William Trelease .
