David Pear (born June 1, 1953 in Vancouver , Washington ) is a retired NFL American football player. In the 1976 NFL Expansion Draft , he was one of 39 players selected by the newly formed Tampa Bay Buccaneers from one of the other 26 NFL teams. He was the first Buccaneers player to be nominated for the Pro Bowl (the NFL's all-star game ). On January 21, 1981 he won with the Oakland Raiders to Super Bowl XV . This was also the last game of his career.

Pear suffered numerous injuries during his career, as a result of which he had to undergo many operations on the spine and hip. He was also diagnosed with brain damage, which was allegedly caused by repeated head injuries that were not completely cured. Pear suffers from dizziness, memory problems, vision and speech disorders. Since then he has campaigned against the NFL.
