David Axmann

David Axmann (* 1947 in Vienna ; † March 2015 ) was an Austrian journalist and literary critic.

Axmann studied German, history and philosophy and from 1974 appeared as a theater critic for the daily newspaper Kurier . He later worked in the Wiener Journal founded by Jörg Mauthe . Friedrich Torberg appointed Axmann as his administrator. In this function, Axmann published several volumes of letters and other writings by Torberg. In recent years, Axmann has mainly worked for the Wiener Zeitung .

According to Hermann Schlösser, Axmann belongs to the Viennese-Jewish feature section tradition . The detailed obituaries praised Axmann's linguistic wit and his precise art of formulation. He died unexpectedly of a heart attack.
