David Burke (actor)
David Burke (born May 25, 1934 in Liverpool ) is a British actor .
Life
David Burke studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art . Since 1963 he has appeared mainly in television series and at the theater.
He gained fame through his portrayal of Dr. Watson starred in the first two seasons of the Granada Television series Sherlock Holmes in 1984 and 1985. He quit in late 1985 to spend more time with his family. He also wanted to accept a theater offer. He himself suggested Edward Hardwicke as the successor to the Holmes series, as Granada wanted to continue producing the series. David Burke played Watson in 13 episodes alongside Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes . Werner Ehrlicher dubbed Burke in this series.
Werner Ziebig lent him his voice in the series Spooks .
In March 2012, Die Frau in Schwarz , a great horror film with Daniel Radcliffe in the lead role , was released in Germany . Burke took on the role of PC Collins.
Burke is married to actress Anna Calder-Marshall. Their son Tom Burke is also an actor. In an episode of Inspector Lynley they stood together in front of the camera.
