David F. Myers

David F. Myers (* 18th July 1938 in Ponca City , Oklahoma ; † 11. November 2011 in Oklahoma City , Oklahoma) was an American politician of the Republican Party .

Life

After attending school, Myers studied chemical engineering at Oklahoma State University and then worked as a chemical engineer and consultant to ConocoPhillips in his hometown.

After retiring, he began his political career when he was elected to the Oklahoma Senate as a Republican Party candidate in 2002 and was confirmed unopposed in both 2006 and 2010, so his third and final term would have ended in 2014. Most recently, he was chairman of the influential Senate Appropriations Committee and thus played a key role in budget discussions between the Senate, House of Representatives and the governors of Oklahoma . He was also the manager of the Senate baseball team for several years , which played an annual charity game against the House of Representatives team.

Myers, who from the effects of pneumonia died as well as diabetes mellitus suffered after his death by the Senate president pro tempore , Brian Bingman , as well as Kris Steele , appreciated Speaker of the House.
