David H. Moriarty
David H. Moriarty (born August 19, 1911 in Nebraska , † September 16, 1989 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American sound engineer .
Life
Moriarty began his career in the early 1950s. He made his debut in John Ford's two Academy Award winning comedy The Winner . He went on to work exclusively for television and it was a decade before his next feature film, the western The Rough Riders of Texas . In the years that followed, he worked on several feature films in addition to his television engagements. In 1971 he and Ronald Pierce were nominated for an Oscar in the Best Sound category for Airport . He then worked on a few television films from the Columbo series before retiring from the film and television business in the mid-1970s. He died in Los Angeles at the age of 78.
