David Hoffmann

David Hoffmann (born on November 23, 1843 in Werbau , Austrian Empire ; died on November 20, 1921 in Berlin ) was a Jewish scholar, Bible and Talmud researcher , opponent of biblical criticism , provided translations and commentaries on Leviticus and Deuteronomy (1905 f ., 1913 ff.), Der Schulchan Aruch (1885).

He studied philosophy and oriental studies in Vienna from 1866 to 1868, then in Berlin and Tübingen until 1870, where he received his doctorate in 1871. From 1873 he was a lecturer at the rabbinical seminary in Berlin , from 1899 also rector of the seminary.
