David Hollaz (writer)
David Hollaz (born August 5, 1704 in Güntersberg near Zachan ( Pomerania ); † June 14, 1771 ibid) was a German Evangelical Lutheran pastor and writer of edification.
Life
The pastor's son and grandson of the Lutheran dogmatist of the same name David Hollaz (1648–1713) worked as a pastor in Güntersberg in Western Pomerania and was theologically close to the Moravian Brethren .
Works
His well-read writings of edifying content include:
- Description of rebirth and spiritual life , 1737
- Evangelical grace order , Halberstadt (Fridrich) 1743 and often digitized version of the University and State Library of Saxony-Anhalt
- Instruction to Prayer , 1747
- Explanation of the messianic religion , Leipzig (Marche) 1749
- Treatise on the state of the Church of Christ at the last time , Frankfurt a. M. 1752
- Paved pilgrim road to Mount Zion , 1744. Digital copy of the University and State Library of Saxony-Anhalt
Complete editions appeared in Frankfurt 1750 and in Görlitz 1770–1782. Some of his writings were translated into other languages and reprinted at the end of the 19th century.
