David Jahn

Johann David Jahn (born May 10, 1798 in Rohrbach , † December 5, 1870 in Blankenburg ) was pastor and president of parliament in Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt .

Life

David Jahn was the son of a laboratory technician and medicine dealer. He studied theology in Jena , where he became a member of the original fraternity in 1817/18 . He was ordained on April 22, 1821 and then became pastor in Eyba . In 1828 he became a pastor in Griesheim .

After the March Revolution , he became politically active. In April 1849 and again in March 1850 he was in favor of the deputy Dr. Arthur Froebel Member of the State Parliament. Since July 8, 1852, he was finally elected member of the 3rd (Stadtilmer) constituency. On February 13, 1854, he prevailed against his predecessor, Johann Heinrich Christian Stieler , in a competitive vote for the office of President of Parliament (official name was: Director of the State Parliament) . As early as March 11, 1854, there was another election of the state parliament president, in which Stieler was elected.

Jahr retired as pastor from Griesheim in 1866 and then lived in Blankenburg.

His brother Michael Jahn and his brother-in-law Eduard Hoë were also members of the state parliament.
