David Koenig (* 1974 in Aachen ) is a German photo artist .

Live and act

After his school days and first courses, Koenig attended the Parsons School of Design in New York City , from which he graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts . He then specialized in photographic art , also in New York, with a degree at the International Center of Photography , which he completed with a Master of Arts degree .

Since then, Koenig has appeared nationally and internationally with thematically bundled photo series. So far he has been represented with solo and group exhibitions in Berlin , Cologne , Aachen and at the OSTRALE - International Exhibition for Contemporary Arts in Dresden , as well as internationally, for example in Knokke-Heist , Bandol , St. Moritz , Beijing , Santa Monica and New York .

In 2004 Koenig was in the finals for both the “Best of Photography Award” and the “Best of College Photography Award” and in 2008 was also a finalist at the Hasselblad Foundation Award .

Koenig sees his art as an interface between the technical possibilities of photography and painting and explores the limits of photography in order to stimulate people to think and arouse associations. One of his artistic priorities is architectural photography , which he summarized in his extensive publication Urban Elements in 2012 and which was nominated for the German photo book award.

Koenig lives and works mainly in Los Angeles , Aachen and Cologne.
