Juan David Mendoza Díaz (born May 25, 1978 in Mexico City , † October 31, 2008 in Zapopan , Jalisco ), also known by the nickname Magic , was a Mexican football player on the position of a defender .

career

Mendoza received his first professional contract in 1998 with Atlas Guadalajara . After two years he moved to Club León for a half season and then to the capital club CD Cruz Azul , where he worked for the next year and a half. He then spent one season each for Club Deportivo Guadalajara ( 2002/03 ), the Tiburones Rojos Veracruz ( 2003/04 ), the Dorados de Sinaloa ( 2005/06 ) and again for the Tiburones Rojos Veracruz ( 2006/07 ) in action.

death

After a first division game held on October 31, 2008 at the Estadio Tres de Marzo between the Tecos de la UAG and Club America , which the guest from the capital won 3-1, Mendoza was shot in the parking lot in front of the stadium by strangers. He was in his car with four other people at the time, one of whom was Miguel Zepeda , his former teammate at Atlas. The other three people later appeared on a drug list related to Raúl Flores Hernández, who was linked to longtime Mexican international Rafael Márquez . One of the three men was his son Saúl Flores Castro; another was Omar Caro Urias, a son of Rafael Caro Quintero , a founder of the Guadalajara Cartel , and the third man was Víctor Manuel Carranza Zepeda, a relative of Miguel Zepeda.
