David Obernosterer

David Obernosterer (born May 30, 1989 ) is an Austrian badminton player from Schwarzach , Vorarlberg.

Career

Obernosterer was the undefeated Austrian school and youth champion in the men's singles U13, U15, U17 and U19 from 2001 to 2008. From 2008 to 2010 he was Austrian junior champion eight times in the U19 and U22 age groups. In total, he won 32 Austrian junior championship titles in the age groups from U13 to U22 in singles, doubles, mixed, team and school cups. In 2009 he won his first adult medal, winning silver in men's doubles with Daniel Wolf . In 2010 and 2012 he won silver in the men's singles. In 2012 he also took part in the European Badminton Championships and finished second at the Bulgaria Open . In 2013 he won the individual national championships for the first time. As the first male badminton player, he won a badminton state championship in his home state of Vorarlberg. In 2014 he was able to defend the national title in men's singles and won silver at the Croatian International in Zagreb . From May 1, 2015 to May 1, 2016, David Obernosterer played at tournaments on all continents to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , which he ultimately succeeded in doing. He took part in the men's singles games from August 11 to August 20, 2016 .

Obernosterer is in a relationship with the former badminton player Elisabeth Baldauf , who also qualified for the 2016 Olympics.
