David Troughton

David Troughton (born June 9, 1950 in Hampstead , London ) is a British actor .

life and career

David Troughton comes from a large family of actors. His father Patrick Troughton and his brother Michael are also known beyond British borders through appearances in theater and television. Two sons of David Troughton are also active as actors. He is also the uncle of actor Harry Melling .

David Troughton began his theater and television career as early as the 1960s. To this day he is a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company on the theater stage. His most famous theater roles with the Royal Shakespeare Company include Richard in Richard III. (1996) and Henry Bolingbroke in Richard II. (2000). Until March 2015 he could be seen in The Shoemaker's Holiday in the role of Simon Eyre.

Troughton has been known to a wider German audience since the 1990s through his role as Duke of Wellington in the series The Snipers at Sean Bean's Side . He was also seen several times in the television series Doctor Who and Inspector Barnaby in supporting roles.
