action
England in the early 1950s: Father Brown serves as a Roman Catholic clergyman at St. Mary's Church in Kembleford, which makes him an outsider in a predominantly Anglican country. Although he seems rather staid and naive, he is an intelligent and astute observer. Together with his fondness for crossword puzzles and detective novels, this repeatedly leads him to interfere in investigations into criminal cases, which often brings the respective inspector from the local police to the verge of desperation. He is supported by his pastor's secretary Mrs. McCarthy and the eccentric artist Lady Felicia, who is always looking for a man, and her chauffeur, the occasional petty criminal Sid Carter.
A firm constant in his actions is always his unshakable faith and trust in the good in people.
production
Production of the first ten episodes began in the Cotswolds in the summer of 2012 . In March 2013, the station commissioned a second season, which was broadcast in 2014. Shortly after the second season finale aired, Father Brown was renewed for a 15-part third season in January 2014. Since then, a new season has been shot every year, so there are currently seven seasons.
Filming takes place primarily in Blockley, Gloucestershire . Other locations are Winchcombe, Upper Slaughter, Kemerton, Sudeley Castle and at the Winchcombe Railway Station.
