Davidson is a small town in Mecklenburg County in the US state of North Carolina with a good 10,000 inhabitants. Part of the parish in the north extends into Iredell County . West of the city is Lake Norman , 30 km south of the seventeenth largest city in the USA Charlotte (North Carolina) .
The place is named after General William Lee Davidson ( American Revolutionary War ).
In addition to Davidson College, the fact that the US national soccer team has already played a number of women's international matches here ( including against Germany ) is noteworthy .
