Davina Siegenthaler Hugi (born April 19, 1978 in Johannesburg , South Africa ; resident in Arni , Canton Bern ) is a Swiss freelance theater maker specializing in directing , theater education , cultural management / production and acting .

Life

She grew up as the daughter of an offset printer and a seamstress in Liebefeld and attended schools in Liebefeld and Köniz until she graduated from high school . From the age of 5 to 15, she trained in classical ballet and obtained several diplomas from the Royal Academy of Dance. She studied theater studies at the University of Bern and the Free University of Berlin with a minor in media studies and education . She graduated in 2005 with a licentiate (lic. Phil. Hist.). Then she went through various training courses on specific aspects of acting and the like. a. at the drama school in Bern. In 2009 she obtained an MAS in theater education from the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) .

career

Since 2001 she has been employed as an assistant director at various theaters. Until 2004 she worked as a cultural manager and in production management at the professional children's and youth theater «La Cascade». She is a founding member and artistic and administrative director of the “theater nota bene” in Bern, founded in 2004, and headed the “theater workshop” for German-Franconian children and young people in the cellar theater “kellerpoche”. She is a member of the management team of the Theater über Land , a professional author and touring theater in Langenthal with world premieres of plays by contemporary Swiss authors. From 2010 to 2014 she was a lecturer at the “Gesamtschule für Theater Grenchen” (GTG). It also offers acting courses for clubs and individuals. As an actress, she was seen on a year-long tour of Switzerland in 2007 in the two-person play Relationship Boxes. In 2008 she was co-founder and from 2008 to 2015 co-director of the “Junge Theaterfabrik” in Bern; she has been the sole director since 2015. She has been part of the management team of the visavis art and culture house since 2015 . She also has various mandates at cult food for projects in the fields of culture and education. Her main activity at the moment (2017) is directing.
